Why can't the Facebook and Instagram apps see anything in my Android gallery?

My device is an LG V20.

I just noticed this today while trying to add a photo to a group on Facebook. Both the Facebook and Instagram apps think my gallery is empty. Facebook actually displays a page that says: "you don't have any photos or videos here." "Gallery" is displayed at the top. Instagram just displays no images.

As far as I can tell, the gallery is working fine. I can view all my pictures in the gallery and can use the share feature to add pics to Facebook or Instagram. This limits my ability to share multiple images.

I have run a Malwarebytes scan which discovered no issues.

Any ideas on where to start?

I have the V20 also. I don't think it's Facebook because if I open a photo in Gallery and then edit it. click Save it says Unable to save changes.

I got an update today that apparently fixed the issue!

Just updated to the newest version on November 16th 2018 2 version VS99520C. Hope it works.

I just updated my LG V20 on 11/25/18 and I have same issue. Whatsapp closes when you tried to send a picture. In addition to not being able to share on facebook the standard way, I can't take screenshots like I used to do. It's a blank white screen. Please someone help.

Issues with my lg v20

I'm having the exact same issue with my lg v20... I can't access the gallery from Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram... What could it be?
