Why can't we get top specs in a normal Size???

Simple Question: Why is it do hard to fathom a top spec'd device in a 4in to 4.3in screen size??? iphone success doesn't give phone makers a clue???

Motorola "ALMOST" got it right with the new razr maxx HD, right up until I heard that it's going to have a 4.7in FML device!!! Anyone agree???

I agree. Even a 4.5 inch screen would be better than the phablets they keep churning out, but I'd prefer a 4-4.3" screen in a super thin phone.

I remember my first cell phone ever was a motorola micro tac elite thru cellular one, thats right, im taking back to its near birth... Then 10 years later.... Remember the motorola star tac? Amazing device that revolutionized the flip phone. Now the galaxy s3 and the note... Lets see how fast that trend reverses. Funny thing is.... I dont see it happening at least for the next 2 years or so... So expect the note to be.... Normal sized by 2014

The note is just too big!

If I wanted a mini tablet I'd get a nexus 7!

When I first got the gs3 I used it for about a week after getting used to its size I really never picked my xoom up, I have now sold it and have contemplated getting the n7 as my wife's kindle fire is so much nicer to hold.

That being said I can't wait for the note 2 as I've held off on buying the n7. I would love to have one device that is capable of doing everything I would use a tablet for.

The note series allows this.

I don't think the trend well reverse, under I think as more and more people use a 5 inch screen phone, they will love it and tablet sales will decline. I know I can't be the only one that has done what I have or plan to.

Once people catch on to not having to have 2+ devices you will be surprised at the market for tablets.

The reason I sold my iPad. Too big to carry around but my desktop and laptop clearly is more powerful and I can just use my phone at the same time while I'm home. That iPad was collecting dust inside its box because I had no use for it.

I agree. I have a Transformer Prime yet still find myself using my phone due to convenience. I really only use my Prime for games and movies. A note 2 could cover these bases.

the test for me is if i have to shift my grip to be able to reach the opposite upper corner of the screen. i have size medium hands and with my Nexus S and its 4" screen, i can barely reach across. i would love it if one of the next Nexus phones had a 4.3" 720p screen with on-screen buttons (which would leave about 4" for the main part of the screen) that was properly color calibrated and 2 GB of RAM.

i also have a thing about aspect ratios and its really disappointing that manufacturers are going away from golden ratio screens

I think HD screens and big batteries require a longer phone. That is why only low end phones are small.

Didn't Apple just increase the size of their iphone? .... I'm guessing because people want bigger screens.

Now there's rumors of a Galaxy S III Mini. 4" screen. But no NFC. :/

So they increased it to 4.8"? O wait...

The Inc 4g has the best for factor of any phone on the market right now, but because of lots of the pushed razr and the fact that HTC refuses to support it no one the walks into verizon knows it exists. Instead everyone goes to the awful squared of razr.

4.3" 720p screen. No bezel. 1.5ghz S4. 16gig+ internal with sd. 2000ma removable battery. Put it on at least 3 of the major carriers. If you make it they will come and come in droves;)

My first Android device was the Original Incredible - loved that phone but outgrew the specs (low memory errors, etc.) I switched over to the Rezound and have been quite happy with it and have since picked up the Nexus 7. Had a problem with the Rezound and pulled back out the Dinc and realized how much I miss the smaller screen. With the Nexus 7, I use that for most things where the larger screen is of benefit. I for one would be all over a 4" - 4.3" (with nearly no bezel) top spec Nexus phone. I just don't find the larger screens appealing, especially with the Nexus 7 at my disposal - different strokes for different folks I guess. ;)

that SO doesn't even begin to be an argument when your talking about a phone that was only increased to exactly 4 inches. That's probably the most neurotic comment I ever heard! lol... sorry!

yea, the GS3 mini seems like the one to look for... but something tells me that they are going to limit the specs in some way shape or form. Seems to be the normal order of business these days with 4" to 4.3" devices! Flagships in android are 4.7 and higher! What a crying shame!

Neurotic? .. lol wow, so much for being nice. My point was the fact that they are indeed increasing the size. I doubt Apple had the intention to bump the iphone to a 4.7" screen this time around but I am fairly certain that you will see the iphone continue to increase in size. Almost everyone I know who switched from iphone to Android did it either because of the ridiculously small size of the iphone or the fact that they hated itunes. I'm sorry if your hands are small and you wear skinny jeans but I'm willing to bet that 4 inch Android phones are going to be few and far in between. lol....sorry:p
