Android Central Question

I'm currently on Huawei, EMUI version 10.0.0 if that matters.
My problem is, that a few weeks ago I was looking for a specific picture in my gallery and it wasn't there, I looked through my entire phone and couldn't find it anywhere - a day later, it had reappeared. Now I'm dealing with a lot of pictures from different folders, they were suddenly gone, I couldn't even find them in files. Then my service provider turned my wifi back on, and they were immediately back. A day later, gone again.

Welcome to Android Central! Were these photos backed up to a cloud storage service like Google Photos? Were you saving them to an SD card?

I believe the option to automatically clean up clutter is disabled on my phone's cleaner, but I think I've clicked on 'clean up junk files' before, not knowing what it'd do exactly. This has never lead to any photos disappearing before, though.

Hi, welcome to AC!
From the sound of it thats what it seems like

There's no updates available for the gallery, and the problem is the pictures disappeared from Google photos at the same time they did from the gallery

So then problem is if it gets erased from Google photos it will erase from gallery , so that leads to concentrate on Google photos , i would do couple pictures and see what happens as test and make sure you have clean clutter off in Google photos like you mentioned

First, go to photos.google.com on your computer browser to see if the photos are actually backed up in the Google Photos cloud.

Then use a file manager app to look directly in the /DCIM/Camera directory. Do you see the photo files there? (This is assuming you're talking about photos you took with the phone's Camera app, and not photos you downloaded from elsewhere.)

Screenshots are usually in the /Pictures/Screenshots directory, and downloaded pictures are usually in /Downloads (although this can also depend on the app you used to download the pictures).

Do you have any "smart phone cleaner" or "storage cleaner" apps installed? Or does the phone have that feature built-in? That kind of thing can sometimes automatically clear out the Download folder and other folders on a regular basis.

That's what I originally asked , I'm assuming no
