Why did they change the way the dictionary works with multiple languages?

Android Central Question

I used to have two dictionaries installed, English and Afrikaans. I could type in either language without having to slide the space bar to select a language. It would not autocorrect for language issues. This worked well.
Now I have to slide the space bar to select which language I am typing in? Why?
This is such a nuisance and wastes so much time when autocorrect changes the words.

Welcome to the forums. What device do you have and what keyboard are you using? Some keyboards, like Gboard or Swiftkey, let you type in different languages at the same time without switching between them.

Hi Javier

I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 (with Android version 7.0)
I am using the stock Samsung Virtual Keyboard
I used to be able to type in both languages before I did the update yesterday
I have seen users with this same issue that have resorted to installing another keyboard but why would I have to do this, it worked before?

Thank you
Kevin

Hi Kevin! I've never used the Samsung keyboard, so I don't know if you can revert that option back.

I moved your thread to the S6 forum where it'll be easier getting feedback from other owners.
