Why do andriod phone's require decryption on every reboot. I never had to do this on my iphone and seems suspicious. If I use an andriod am I basically handing over all my info to the NSA decrypted for them? I find it strange that when I search for this topic, I find absolutely nothing. Just people confirming that the phone decrypts on start up with no explanation of why this happens.

On your iPhones did you ever have to enter your pin after a reboot? While it may not have said as much, this was the decryption. Android is doing the same thing.

It's encrypted so that if someone "finds" your phone, they can't get your data. The only way the phone knows that it's you is when you put in the "decryption" code.

The NSA has nothing to do with it. Your phone calls, texts and emails aren't encrypted.

I think you have a misunderstanding of encryption/decryption if you think NSA has anything to do with it.
