Why do android phones have so little internal memory?

I recently purchased a Alcatel A456C smartphone with only 4GB memory. I have installed a Micro SD card, but have now discovered that I cannot move any apps,etc. to SD Card. What a weird setup.

Limited device memory is not peculiar to Android devices.

It's not Android just some budget phones cuts areas where they can to make the phone affordable as possible.
