Constant discovery ding.

Everytime I drive around I constantly get a discovery ding. I assume it is discovering wi-fi connections all over the place and it just keeps going off constantly while driving. It's fine when I get home.

If this is true, then how do I disable it. I see nothing under sound nor wi-fi settings.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Constant discovery ding.

I doubt I could help, but you could try a few things and fill in a few blanks.
What device?
Can you see any notification as it happens?
Does it only happen while navigating. If you turn Location off does it still happen?
If you go to the bottom of the Location settings there is a list of apps with permission to use Location.
It may be an app you installed, or the way Google Now cards are configured.
Have you turned off Scanning always available in Settings - Wifi - Advanced. It shouldn't ping by itself.
It may be a rogue app or malware you inadvertently intalled.

That's all I can think of.
Someone will come up with something more obvious that I overlooked, but I'm only an amateur :)

Re: Constant discovery ding.

I found it. It's under adanced setting in wifi and is called

Network Notification: Notify me when an open network is available.

It took me a while to find advanced settings for wifi as I was expecting to find it on the screen, but it was umder the option bars (4-bars next to home button)

Thanks for the help
