Android Central Question

Since I updated my S9+ to Android Pie, I have started receiving visual/audio alerts and pop-up notifications when I SEND an outgoing text message. (IOW, I send a text message and about a minute later the "new text" alerts sound and a pop-up appears at the top of my screen with the text I just sent.) Any idea why this is happening and how I can stop it? Is it a glitch in Pie, or something I need to adjust in the settings?
TIA

Are you saying that your carrier sends you a copy of your message back to you after the message is delivered to the recipient?
Thus, you end up with two copies of your message in the conversation thread?

No, the carrier doesn't send another copy back to me - but I get a drop-down notification at the top of my screen a couple minutes after I send a message, accompanied by my message notification sound, as if I have a new incoming message ... but the notification has my name rather than the name of the person I'm texting with, and contains the body of the message I just sent.

This issue only began when I upgraded to Android Pie.

There's a setting for notifying you when sending a text - in the texting app's settings.

(If you want to make sure someone sees your response, prefix their screen name with @ - like @Rukbat. [Anywhere in the post.])

I was getting a notification in the sense that every time I sent a text or at least many of the times that I sent text messages my phone would repeat the text message back to me as if it were a notification of a new text, but all it really was was it repeat in my own text back to me.

about a week ago I made a change to the settings that seems to have worked as I haven't received these notifications again since.

Apparently I had set the date and time setting to be manually adjusted in the settings and when I set it to be automatically adjusted the problem resolved itself. What I understand from all the reading I did was that the phone sometimes can be off by a slight amount from the network time and date and this can cause notifications to pop up like that at random times.

I thought mine was doing this, and it was a text telling me I was trying to "text" a landline. One of my best friends still has a landline. I also have the PIE update and I'm using the default Text that is on my Moto G6. Maybe this will help someone else.

I understand you guys now,

I found out that the problem for me was actually the visualization of the virtual keyboard on screen, because I've got bitmoji, swiftkey and gboard keyboards and there is notification popin up with preferations only on the upper task bar and I'm gettingyhe annoying sound from it
