Missing Phone Icon on Galaxy S6 Edge

Hope you can help. I got a Galaxy S6 Edge a couple of weeks ago. Everything was as it should be until a few days ago. The phone icon went missing and it's not listed with in the apps area/drawer. However, when I check under Application Manager, its shows three phone applications which seem to be dupes. They can't be uninstalled or disabled. I've done force close and restarted the phone but no luck. I'm using Nova Launcher. I just got the the phone set-up the way I wanted so the the thought of a factory reset makes me queasy. Has anyone heard of this happening and what the solution might be?

Re: Missing Phone Icon on Galaxy S6 Edge

You could try this. Long press on your homescreen and tap on widgets. Select the new Nova option "apps or folder" and drag it to the screen. Scroll down the list and look for "phone", tick the box and tap on "add".

Re: Missing Phone Icon on Galaxy S6 Edge

Just tried your suggestion. There wasn't an option for "phone" listed. This is so weird. Thanks for responding though!

Re: Missing Phone Icon on Galaxy S6 Edge

Hi, thanks for joining Android Central. Welcome to the forums!

That's strange. There are different reports of having three "phone" apps after the update but I haven't read about a problem like yours. Is it still missing if you switch back to Touchwiz?

Re: Missing Phone Icon on Galaxy S6 Edge

It was still missing in Touchwiz. I found the answer though. Apparently, I had accidentally turned off/disabled Contacts. Once I enabled Contacts, the phone icon was back. Now you have a possible solution if anyone else drops by with the same problem. Thanks again, Javier P!
