Why do I hear no sound when I call "ok Google?"

this is happening to me also on my LGv20 if u update to the newest Google nowthsts what happens. if u Uninstall and use the older version it works fine. just make sure u go go Google play store and turn off auto update apps. and simply don't update Google now for a few months to see if they have fixed the issue or just maybe took out the chime which would be so stupid!

holy crap! thanks for this info! used clean master and suddenly I got my chime back! haa I wonder how the he'll that worked. cheers mate!

Doing so will have the same identical effect as wasting your time sending Feedback to Google, leaving a bad review, posting a question in any of the Google support forums or, calling Google!

They Don't Read then and they Don't care.

This unfortunately for ALL Android or Google services / products, is Fact

I disagree. Sure, they won't (and can't) respond to every single complaint from every single user. But I know for a fact (because I've seen it on these forums) that bugs do get fixed, and one of the main ways Google finds out about the bugs is via feedback. There are a number of bugs I've reported that ultimately got patched. I would guess that they need a critical mass of similar bug reports to make sure it's a problem that needs to be addressed, so I always encourage people to send feedback, even if they think it goes unheard. The best way to send feedback is through the app's Help & Feedback setting, or the phone's own Feedback area in the system settings.

yes it works but it's not because it's cleaning anything. clean master just simply has to be installed and it fixes Google now chime. try u installing clean master. and bam your Google now chime is again gone!

yup same. thing for me except for I don't have the Samsung thing. if u even try and disable clean master. goodbye Google now chime. wtf is that about of course getting in touch with Google is like getting in touch with God. just ain't gonna happen

I disagree. Sure, they won't (and can't) respond to every single complaint from every single user.

There is nearly 2 billion Android devices in use, worldwide. Even if a small percentage of users give feedback, that still is a massive number.

A year ago, I contacted Google via feedback to report an issue I had with Google Photos and Google Drive. I didn't expect much to be honest. But I was surprised when a Google tech contacted me and worked with me to debug the issue and a couple of weeks later, they fixed what turned out to be a defect in Google Drive.

It's not a waste.

Re: Feedback to Google about their buggy software

It's not a waste.
I won't bother, anymore.

I contacted them about a serious bug in Android Wear. They responded, but, their response was merely to try all the common things I'd tried already. Then they dropped it. Second time I responded "If all you're going to do is <description of first response>, rather than actually debugging the problem: Let's not waste each others' time": Silence.

For my report of the wonky Google Now feedback problem: Nothing.

Android devices, with their execrable security record and incessantly unreliable behaviour are beginning to become unsatisfactory. I'm already at the point I no longer argue their merits with iHeads or recommend them.

Perhaps, but not everyone has the same experience. I've contacted Google twice on issues I had come across and both times they worked with me to resolve the problem.

What kind of annoyance on YouTube are we talking about because I just switched access to on and my YouTube is working fine. never mind I see what happens right YouTube. the overlay doesn't go away

Was having the same issues but i think i figured it out. I went into the play store and uninstalled from there. But what it asked was something to the effect of do you want to uninstall update... i clicked yes. It left the google app on the phone and apparently just uninstalled the latest update. Now its working like a charm. Hope this helps in your situation

Like a lot of you, this problem happened to me in the past few days. Nexus 5 for me. Searching for an answer I found this thread. Installing the Clean Master app seemed like the best solution, so I gave it a shot, and it DID WORK. But, after doing some investigation, not for the reason a lot of you may think.

When using the app, it asks you to turn on permissions for it in Settings>Accessibility>Services. For some reason, and don't ask me why because I don't know, THIS is what triggers the OK Google sound to work again! Thing is, you don't NEED Clean Master do to this. I found just enabling Switch Access in Accessibility works as well.

So there you go. Just enable Switch Access and you got your sound back. Again though, just don't ask me WHY it works.

You're a freaking genius! I've been looking for a solution to this all day. Thank you thank you thank you!

Many thanks to Christopher Kolle for pointing me to the light. Installing Clean Master Lite did the trick. I have a BEEP with "Ok Google".& can stop pulling hair from my bald head.

So I found your thread by googling this problem because I've had the same issue for a while, and tried the super cleaner app everyone says would work and enabling accessibility but I went a step further and found that if you turn accessibility on for any app thats already installed you will get the same fix with sound again. So I just turned on my nova launcher permissions and uninstalled that cleaning app. Hopefully this will help other people too because im sure they have at least one or two apps that can be used for this method without having to install another.
NOTE: I am currently using a galaxy s5 on android 6.0.1

If you have launchers like Nova installed on your phone then turn on the permission for Nova launcher in system accessibility settings.
