Why do i suddenly have a weird lock screen?

[Android Central Question]

There's a weird ad kind of lock screen that I just got literally today. I doubt it's related to any apps because it's never happened before and I haven't downloaded anything new. It's so weird, and I can't back out of it unless I press my home screen. Like I can't use the back button or multiple tabs button. I searched everywhere in my settings to see how I can get rid of it but nothing came up. It shows the military time right underneath all of the ads. I can still use my phone but the lock screen bothers me

Welcome to Android Central! Does your phone have a smartview cover feature? If so, something might be activating that feature (i.e., making the phone think that a smartcover with a window is closed over the screen) -- on some phones, this can be triggered by a magnet near a certain sensor in the phone.

Try safe mode if it goes away most likely a 3rd party app you downloaded

While the OP did state that nothing new was downloaded, it is possible that an already installed app updated itself and it included a new ad component.
