Why do my weblinks keep "disappearing"

I Have a Moto G8 which I have been using since about June running android 11

In the last couple of weeks my homescreen weblinks are gone when I switch my phone on. I recreate them and all is good for a couple of hours/days but when I switch on they are gone again. I can use bookmarks but this is not as quick. Does anybody have any ideas

Welcome to Android Central! For which browser? Are you using the stock launcher or a 3rd party one?

Just using Google chrome which came preloaded on the phone

Looks like its a issue and possibly look for fixes , make sure all your apps are up to date , webview and such.

Ok, and you're also using the stock launcher as well? Not a 3rd party launcher like Nova or Microsoft Launcher?

This question you asked and should be answered as its also possible that can be the issue or resolved with a 3rd party launcher.

Sorry don't understand the question about "stock or third party launchers" . I just the search box or chrome icon on the home screen

The launcher controls how the homescreen looks and behaves. The stock launcher is how the homescreen looks right out of the box. You can install 3rd party launchers like Nova Launcher or Microsoft Launcher to make it look and act significantly differently. I assume you're on the stock launcher since you're not familiar with this.

Welcome to the forums. As @mustang7757 posted, this is a known bug affecting different brands. In Google they are aware of the problem and there should be a fix in the next future.
