Why do people hate touchwiz so much?

its not bad but my twlauncher was really buggy
after leaving big app or task killer would be slow to load

I keep looking for something better....but I always come back to TW.

That being said, I'm a new (in-rooted) Android adapter.

Also LOTS of truth that was said before, "Always Greener on the other side."

Why does touchwiz look like Iphone? I think all these touch devices look like the Iphone. They were the 1st really and everybody else just wants to be like Mike. And really, what's the knock on "looking like the Iphone"? anyways?

Well look at the icons on the dock looks like the iPhone Dock in a sense. The App Menu scrolls like the iPhone's app menu looks like. TW does look little too colorful to be similar to the iphone. I understand everyone wants to look like the iPhone and that is fine if you want to be like everyone. It all comes down to personal preference and I personally like the look of Stock Android and Launcher Pro! Again if I wanted an iPhone look, I would have bought the iPhone, however, I chose Android to have the customization and not look like everyone!

Charlie

I like TW alot, i think the problem is just this that people say the app drawer is iphone clone.... and there is nothing wrong with looking like Iphone, its just that people on the Iphone camp like to find any reason to say that everyone is copying them and that annoys alot of people in camp anroid. So anything that furthers the perception of copying Iphone is disliked..

But its all kind of stupid if you want your android to look like an iphone thats your choice....Why cause thats the whole point of owning an android phone, the freedom of choice.

Well to be fair, a lot of people on Android are well -- anti Apple or at least anti-iPhone, so I can somewhat understand the "iPhone Clone" argument, but I don't think it's too overboard. Sometimes I actually prefer the left/right drawer over the up/down.

I don't mind it, but I'd rather have HTC Sense, but I'd rather have STOCK over both!

All this angst over Touch Wiz is over a couple of glowy dots and side swiping to find stuff? What a joke. I have an iPod Touch for quite a while and my wife has an iPhone 4 and don't hardly see a resemblance... what because the list of apps are in a grid that you swipe back and forth to see? Really? When I started reading some of this stuff and wondering if there really were problems with TW, I was concerned. Seeing this thread has shed some light on some of the fanboy leg humping I have been seeing.

The tw launcher tends to be slower and with more bugs then others
facebook integration for contacts is worse
but if you don't like it you don't have to have it

You can always use Launcher Pro, and then use (paid version of)titanium backup to freeze (disable) touchwiz, if you like.

AoN

Is there a way to change the default icons on the bottom of TW? Thats the only reason I dont use it. I prefer launcher pro bc I can use my own icons.

Most people don't care about touchwiz. It's not any better or worse than the other skins like Motoblur or HTC Sense. The only people who whine are the fanboys and the hardcore who spend all day running benchmarks on their phone to brag to each other and say how great their phone is. Carrier and manufacturer modifications are here to stay and for good reason. You can't tell one black slab of glass and plastic from the slab next to it, so the skin is necessary to differentiate the phone makers, or else it will all be one jumbo and everyone will be owning slightly different looking iPhones. You can't seriously think any sensible brand would remove their mark just because certain self-entitled bozos and degenerate consumers think that they own Android. It's just a bunch of inflated hot air each and every time a reviewer from some gadget blog spends half their review complaining about the skin.

When you say change icons do you mean just the icon and not the app, or change the app (and associated icon). No idea if you can just change the icon, but I've changed out the apps on that row.

Does it really matter that manufacturers use different Android skins? Windows is the same regardless of what brand computer you buy, and no one complains.
