Why do you prefer the Android OS over iOS?

Yes I think you sir! It only has a cumbersome and confusing, it's just sound right frustrating. most consumers don't know which application to use at the end of the day Samsung Galaxy apps or Google apps.

I find I swap from one to the other. I'll use Google Keep (especially since all of my Google Keep notes transferred over from my Pixel 2); but I like the layout of Gallery more for photos.

Haha yup yup touché! The beauty of cloud syncing is it's easy to swap from one phone to another phone!

I do agree with Apple's marketing slogan, "It just works," but wish they'd added the rest, "as we want it to work." How you want it to work doesn't interest them. Unfortunately, I'm beginning to thing Google Pixel is following Apple's model.

Unfortunately I think that that’s exactly where the Google Pixel phones are going, at least hardware wise. They refused to move with the times, sticking with a dual lens camera when competitors offered 3/4 with higher performance (e.g P30 Pro), kept noticeable bezels and had a tiny battery. In the end the face unlock was still flawed and the 90hz display didn’t always work.

With the camera, Google needs to learn that you can’t software algorithm your way out of better hardware. You need both.

I did do a double take the day I got the phone and wondered why I had two Clock apps. I deleted the Google Clock app and kept the Samsung one. I like it. Having two Clocks apps was apparently drawing the line for me! Lool.

Haha, see there you go!

Exactly! A monopoly would be the worst thing.

So, if you want to use iOS what options do you have? Isn't Apple a monopoly? Windows was never limited to a Microsoft computer although Apple's operating system was limited to their computer. Google never limited Android to Google phones but Apple limits their OS to their phones.

Apple sure seems like a monopoly where the user gets what the monopoly wants them to have. I realize there are those for whom choice is a bad thing so it's a good thing they have Apple. They don't have to make any choices.

First, we were talking about the number of OS's, not them individually. If you don't like iOS, which it's clear you don't, you have other choices which is a good thing. We're all different so not everyone thinks like you or likes what you like.

I am well aware that many like iOS and Apple. The OP asked a simple question, why?, and I answered. We are all different so your not liking my answer doesn't crush me. I consider the brand-specific versions of Android to be Android. As a long time user of Nexus/Pixel I prefer stock Android or Android One. I am using EMUI 10 right now because I like the Huawei camera but I still see a butchered version of Android. Unlike others, Android accepts that choice is a good thing.

What makes you think Apple isn't doing the same to your information? Apple is a propriety O.S. which mean you may never know what Apple is doing with your data. Android is open source.

Yes it is which is the point that it’s a good thing there is not a monopoly in the smartphone business. Choice.

Are you speaking to me?
Let’s face it, we don’t know what any large corporation is doing with our information. Apple, Google, credit card companies, etc. We do know iMessage has end to end encryption by default which is about as secure as you can get. We also know they have fought against giving information to law enforcement.
I’m not sure what Android being open source has to do with security.

In general, open source is thought of as more secure because anyone can review the code for anything nefarious.

I can understand, in theory, how this may make it seem more secure. The question is, is 100% of the coding being scanned for potential weaknesses? Also, if something is found, how easy is it to get updates to the plethora of Android devices and OS’s?

It certainly has improved over time but I’m not positive open source, by itself, makes something secure. I’m certainly not an expert though and and am always looking to learn more.

I never bothered with ios and apple products from the beginning, I thought it was crazy how they wanted 600 for the first iPong and it didn't even have 3g
Still don't really like how the company operates.
I don't even try and help people with their iPongs anymore, just say... Sorry but I don't really know how these work 😁

Bravo on the iPongs...

The thought is if it isn't open, no one outside of the developers would know the flaws in the code.

Obviously, not 100% of the code will be reviewed outside of the developers.

And yes, patches are a big flaw for Android because not everyone does quarterly updates.

Thanks, I appreciate the information!

I just don't like how every product you buy to support your iPhone has to be Apple-made. It really restricts you and it also costs more because it's Apple and they know you will need the accessories from them and them alone. Sad.

Don't see the big deal with the Sammy apps, just choose the one you like the best and use it....whoopdi-dool. No one company has a stranglehold on a certain type app, who the heck would want that? Let 'em compete and pick the winner yourself. I just don't get the hate here, I get it, chocolate only served here...strawberry lovers take a hike.

It's like, I want choice but don't force me to choose. 🤣
