Why does 4G data keep activating with WiFi on??

Hi Guys,

I'm having a problem and can't figure it out for the life of me. For some reason, starting only a few days ago, my Galaxy S5 (not rooted, and ATT so no lollipop) has been activating 4G temporarily while I'm connected to Wifi for no apparent reason. Of course it will do this during group texts and MMS and always has (I'm experienced from years of android phones so something obvious like that wouldn't be the culprit), but the recent problem is different. I'll pick up my phone and unlock it and see the 4G logo is on the top status bar next to the WiFi logo before it disappears after a few seconds; the WiFi logo doesn't disappear or try reconnecting, so it doesn't seem to lose that connection at all. Other times I'll be looking at the phone and see the 4G logo pop up, sit there next to the WiFi logo about 4-5 seconds, then goes away again, when I'm not really doing anything that should warrant the 4G activating.

My WiFi is set to always stay on in the settings even while phone is idle, and I do not have smart network switch turned on. Additionally the only new apps I've installed before the problem occurred were keyboard apps: SwiftKey, TouchPal and AKA keyboard. All of which I have since uninstalled and am back to google keyboard, which I always used and never had this issue. Lastly there's no new running processes that stand out to me that perhaps would be activating the data occasionally.

I really don't have any idea what this could be; do you guys have any thoughts? Are their apps that would give me insight as to what could be activating the data randomly and temporarily like this? I'm open to any ideas.

Thanks!
