Why does an incoming call severely affect the quality of my current call?

This is a very annoying issue where if I'm on a call and another call comes in, it is like my signal suddenly worsens, the other person says I keep cutting in and out and I'm very hard to understand..

That's your carrier's fault. (If you use an MVNO it's not them, it's the carrier.) Unless you conference the calls - which is done at the central office anyway - you're on one call at any given moment.

Welcome to Android Central! If you get a call waiting, then the other person will hear brief dropouts while you hear the call waiting tone. That's normal. Or are you saying that the quality continues to be bad even after the call waiting goes away?
