Android Central Question

Just got a new galaxy s9 qualcomm version and have found a huge annoyance with it. When i put an app on the home screen from the app drawer, google play, or chrome, it always creates a new home screen panel. i Turned off bixby and deleted all panels except for the home panel.

Not sure if im posting this in the right place but the AC Forums mobile website isnt the easiest thing to navigate.

If anybody knows how to fix this any help would be nice. Thanks.

Welcome to Android Central! Do you mean that after placing the shortcut on your main homescreen, you find that a new blank panel to the right was created? Or is it that when you drag the shortcut, it automatically presents you with a new panel? If the latter, what if you drag the icon the very left of the screen -- does it then move over to your existing panel?

Press and hold on the app in the app drawer and drag it straight up. It will then create the shortcut on the panel you designated as 'Home' in the launcher settings. If you have not set your 'Home' screen yet, press and hold on any blank area of your screen and you will see the option - along with other launcher settings - to do so.

I am also having this problem on the note 9. I have set the first page as my home screen. I have 2 pages total, both with many open spots for the shortcuts. Also moved shortcuts in bottom right as I've read that it likes that spot. When I tell an app to add the shortcut, it creates a 3rd page and puts it there. Really annoying, especially when creating shortcuts to family members from Google maps. Everytime it updates it deletes my shortcuts so I have to add them all again. Yes, I can live with it but it's still annoying.

Welcome to Android Central! On certain launchers (including Samsung's, I believe), when you have the homescreen set to automatically add shortcuts for newly installed apps, it looks for an open spot at the lower right of the page. If that spot is filled, it creates a new page, instead of using any of the blank spots higher up on the homescreen. It's kind of a silly bug (or maybe it was intended for some reason), but it's been around for a while. Send feedback to Samsung about it.

I just keep a blank 3rd page knowing they go there and drag where I want.

Or turn off create app ic pi n and then go to apps, click and and option to add to home screen or drag up and onto screen yourself.

Once setup I only add programs once every day or two.
