Just got a Galaxy S5 and the same exact thing is happening to me and I did everything you did to resolve it and still no luck...very frustrating, even more so cause he bought me the phone :(
Any luck on your end???

If I may ask, what anti-virus did you use? I'm still having the problem

Did you resolve your issue as of yet? I still can't get English when texting to my Metro subscibers

Just out of curiosity, if the receiving person forwards the text back to you is it still in Asian script? This sounds like a metro problem to me. Maybe there is some data corruption going on in transit.

Hi Larry,
I've received this text which someone wrote to me in Spanish originally from her iphone:
浥獳慧攠Ԡ瑯‱㔱㐶㈱㜳㤲⁳畣捥敤敤
I've tried to find a tool to know what she sent but couldn't.
Are you able to hel me please?
Thank you!!!
Alex

Alex, that is exactly the same Chinese phrase that I received. I texted my wife (using Textra), and got a response within half a second, and it was that exact Chinese phrase. I don't know if it's my phone, or hers. I have a Nexus 5, hers is a Nexus 4. Something, somewhere, is fekked up. I have AVG AntiVirus FREE on my phone, and it didn't pick up anything in its scan on my phone. Maybe it's on my wife's. No idea.

I do not know anything about how the characters in text messages are normally encoded when sent, but it looks like the text was sent encoded as UTF-16 big endian and was interpreted by the receiving phone as UTF-16 little endian (or vice versa). If that was the case, then the actual message was something like "mm babe me too ! we need some cuddling time it's been to long". Maybe someone else who understands the character encodings used in text messages can comment on how this might happen.

I explained in my original post in this thread how the message was scrambled, and anyone should be able to unscramble such messages using a text/binary editor which can handle UTF-16 Unicode characters. If you don't understand what that means, try using Google to find out. I can't keep converting messages for people, so please try converting them yourself rather than asking me to do so.

Megan, the message you sent me in a private message was nothing personal, so I'll post the converted message here: "MomȠMurdersȠHerȠOwnȠInfantȠThenȠPostȠPhotosȠOfȠT⁨&:Ƞhttp://youtu.b".

The easiest thing to do if you receive such a message is probably to ask the person who sent it to resend.

Hello guys, I'm new on here but not with android. Been selling and troubleshooting them since the G1, from T-Mobile. Technology has a mind of its own, I often joke and say it's literally alien technology. ..

Anyhow, my wife has been having the same issue for 2 months.

We have replaced the phone through the warranty 3 times. She had the Nokia lumia. After no improvement we got her into the galaxy S4. Coverage was better and other issues were resolved, except the texting issue.

The common factor is Metro PCS. I have never had this problem and I have had Sprint, tmobile, att, Verizon, boost, simple mobile, straight talk, cricket and virgin Mobile. Never had or heard of this issue until now.

My situation is my wife has tmobile and sends a text to a friend in California who has METRO PCS and a Galaxy s3. The Metro user is the one who receives the text in a foreign text.

The only simple possible solution I can think of is to erase the (1) before the cellphone number. I know I had a customer that could not send picture messages and we added the (1) to the number and it worked... but I don't know how Metro works but I would try to reach the tech support issue IF they have one. .

I got texting from my hubby jus like this but at different times an he don't or doesn't have anything to do with Huawei so it's not your phone or his I continue think cause we wouldn't have that same thing happen... I used to have a s4 an my keyboard would change on me but the texts I'm getting from my husband he says aren't there an they not on his msg log??

I don't think it has anything to do with HIS phone, but rather your phone because I have had the same thing happen to me with 3 different people. Did you ever find a solution? Because I am trying to Google one now.

A friend and I have been experiencing the same we both have Android/AT&T. Only difference is that I was sending Chinese where she was receiving Chinese. Here's what I did tonight that seem to fix my issue. I assume the issue started with the new version update but not sure. I sent to Settings...Language and Input....I clicked on Samsung keyboard because underneath it stated Multiple Languages. I scrolled through to make sure only ENGLISH(US) was selected and it was...but once I exited I no longer sent Chinese texts to my friends. I know it sounds odd, but that's the only thing I did. Good Luck!!

Thanks for the tip, CMel72. Went to Settings > Language and Input and selected my Keyboard with multiple languages. I only had English selected, but there was an update button enabled next to it. I updated it, had my wife resend the problematic message and it worked just fine. I have a Galaxy S6, but that would make sense on other Android . I couldn't read iOS 7 SMS/MMS messages with multiple emojis. Thanks again.

I have this problem when receiving texts from iphones. It is sporatic. I also recieve bland squares in place of emojis sent from iphones. I use Samsung Galaxy s4.
Please send an answer that works! I have reset language to English. Keyboard to English. I sent message back to sender and they received it in "Chinese" as well. On the Apple iPhone forum this has been an ongoing problem. Help is needed!

This Solution works for me if you still have problem.
Settings > Language and Input > Samsung keyboard > add input languages

Update English and add whatever languages you are texting in.

hope this helps.
