why does my device give me an overheating message when its not overheating

galaxy s6 edge!!! had it about a month and im having issues!!! says its overheating and shutting itself off, yet its cold!!! help!!!

That sounds like you may have a defective device. I would contact the place you bought it from or Samsung for a replacement.
