Droid Razr Maxx HD auto swipes itself to the left when I tap an app

Had my Droid Razx Maxx HD for over 2 yrs and for the last 6-8 months this problem has ticked me off. From any home screen, if I tap an app, many times the phone will swipe one screen to the left by itself instead of opening the app I tapped. Real annoying. Am i the only one this happens to ? Can't find anything in forums about it. Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! Any recent drops, trauma or water exposure? I wonder if the digitizer might be starting to have issues.

I've also noticed that a really dirty screen can sometimes cause strange behavior. Give it a good cleaning with a microfiber cloth.
