Why does my finger touch randomly freeze?

I have a Galaxy note 10.1 2014 that has a glitch that randomly causes it to not respond to finger touch. I will be working with my sketching program or just surfing the Internet (pen both attached and unattached in multiple cases)and it randomly stops recognizing my fingers (but will still recognize the pen) until I turn the screen off for a second and turn it right back on. Annoying. And is becoming a more frequent issue lately. Any ideas?

You need to get the touchpad replaced.
