Why does my Samsung S8 camera stop recording, randomly?

Hi guys, I have been dealing with s8 camera problem for months now and decided to ask before I smash my phone into the wall.
Problem looks simple, I start recording and it randomly stops. Its followed by quick flash(the one that you see when switching the camera on) and looks like camera is restarting. It happens after 2,5, 10 seconds or sometimes doesn't happen at all. I recorded a video of my baby and after 20s I found out that recording stopped and I didn't get anything. I tried to use a camera in safe mode, seems to be working fine there.
Does it mean that some apps interfere with camera app? Also tried cleaning the cache which didn't help. Is there a way to find what apps are causing the issue? Is factory reset best option in my case? I would add that I can see those weird flashes even when I'm not recording and camera is simply switched on.

It does sound like the camera app, or camera subsystem is having issues. Try resetting the camera app itself... If that doesn't resolve things, a full reset may be in order.

And if it happens after the reset, it may be a problem with the camera hardware.

I really feel for you. I am having the same problem. It’s been happening for some time now and though an update may resolve it, it hasn’t. What was worse it happened when I was recording my baby girls first steps. Straightaway I called Samsung and they were useless. They wanted to reset my phone. I have a lot on my phone and resetting it would take me a day to put it back the way it is.
I tried without SD card thinking SD card was an issue.
Tried resetting the setting on the camera
Tried wiping the Cache
Installed a third party camera and No issues there it worked fine.
SO I think it is a camera issue which may be caused by another App.
Can someone tell me if there is a way to uninstall the camera and reinstall it again?

I also tried this and didn't work.
Normal Android:
1) Go to Settings -> Apps -> Camera App
2) Click on FORCE STOP button to close the app.
3) Click on Storage and here click on Clear Cache and then on Clear Data
4) Do not open the camera yet, click on the Power Button and power off your phone.
5) With the phone powered off, click on the power button to turn it on and then, when the first logo appear, the one with Samsung Galaxy S8(+), click and hold the Volume Down button until it enters the Android OS Safe Mode (that's roughly 30 seconds). To be sure you did the right thing and the phone is indeed in the Safa Mode, on the left bottom corner it will appear a text saying Safe Mode which will remain on the screen no matter what.
6) Repeat stepps 1) to 3).
7) Power off you phone again and now power it on standard, only by pressing the power button.
8) Problem should be fixed, you can now open your Camera and set again the quality of the pictures and everything else.

UPDATE. At the end I had to do a factory reset. So far the camera seems to be working fine. However I am in the process of setting up all my apps, emails and logins. Will know more after it has been restored.

Hi there, I am having similar problems. It started a week ago in the end of 2019, a few weeks after the system update for some reason ran itself even if it is put on manual (I don't like some updates).
Anyways my camera in s8 stops after a few seconds predictably without any error message or warning. I do vlogging so it is super annoying.
What helped is to record with OpenCamera app.

I'd prefer not to do the factory reset.
Wonder if it might be connected that there is not much space on the phone (enough for the recordings though), and usually when camera is run out of space there was a special warning.

Any tips?

photos are stored both at the phone and SD card. I try to keep a few gigs free. still same thing with the videos.

How many seconds are you able to record for? When the recording stops, is a video file actually created?

Try removing the sd card?
