Why does my fingerprint scanner suck so much?

24 hours in and I have a better success rate than iPhone users. The only time it fails is when the screen times out before I put my thumb on it (time out is very short because I have power saving on all the time).

I also downloaded FingerSecurity from Google Play and use that on a dozen apps and basically never fail. Every once in a long while, my left thumb fails due to an awkward way I am holding it (I'm right handed).

So, I probably use the scanner well over 20 to 50 times an hour and fail a couple times a day except for user errors.

having the same problem too. great suggestion about adding multiple imprints for the same finger as a work around. thanks!

Mine works great! Scan like all the other posters said to. If you try to place your finger or thumb exactly the same each time when setting up and it records it that way, then you don't place it exactly the same way when trying to use it it will fail. Move it around when setting it up.

Don't forget that dryness or moisture on your finger can affect the results. My hands tend towards the dry side and sometimes I notice some peeling on my thumbs which often results in a failure.

^ I was having my Frapp yesterday and even the slightest moisture gave me problems.

Mine works great. When scanning your fingerprint make sure you do all angles. So start off with your thumb straight and then slowly rotate it 45 degrees

When you press the home button to unlock the phone just hold the button down until the phone unlocks .

Tried three times to get my thumb to scan but it was unreliable. One time while scanning it a short message came up about reading something before scanning thumbs.

I now successfully use my index finger to scan worn and it works every time.

This is a good example of how Iphones just work... The phones are just more user friendly. I do like Apple products but am not a "Fan Boy".. I am using a Iphone 6+ and a Droid Turbo at the moment. and plan on buying the LG G4 as soon as I can

Interesting. My wife stopped using her FP scanner on her IP6+ because it was unreliable. I, on the other hand, use the FP scanner on my S6E well over 100 times a day, most days, and have essentially zero failures (fewer than when I used a pattern unlock).

Maybe instead of this being a good example of how Iphones (sic) just work, it's an example of an internet forum upon which we should not place too much emphasis.

I can only speak for my circle of friends and family and none of them are having a problem with the Iphone scanner, but It sounds like many are having an issue with the S6 based on this forum

Agreed...I have both the S6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. The S6 fingerprint scanner is faster than the iPhone when it works. But, unfortunately, the S6 scanner bugs out much more often and rejects my print forcing me to re-place my finger on the scanner a second or third time, which can be frustrating. The iPhone is a tad slower but 100% reliable.

My scanner work every time ether you guys don't know how to set it up are you don't have a finger print . I even like the swipe one on my note 4 edge
