Why does my Galaxy S5 sometimes open image thumbnails and display a black screen.

When opening image thumbnails in both the text message app and in the photo gallery on my Galaxy S5 a black screen will be displayed. This is an intermittent issue. Once the black screen is displayed, sometimes, but it doesn't always work, you can go back to the thumbnail, then try again and it will open. I am on my second microSD card, and it has been happened with both cards, so I don't think it is the card. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Sounds like the SD cards could be slow r/w speeds. You could try wiping app cache and system cache.
