Why does my Galaxy S6 turn off my car stereo when sms is received when connected via Bluetooth?

Galaxy S6 turns off car stereo when sms is received when connected via Bluetooth

Any advice how to change this option

Turns off or momentarily mutes it? On mine it just mutes whatever I'm playing for a second, then it comes back.

It depends on how the BT is implemented in your stereo. In my old VW any time any BT audio was played the care would switch to BT and stop whatever else it was playing. Annoying. One way to avoid this is to mute notifications while BT is connected (set to vibrate).

It must be the Samsung
I had iPhone 6 connected via Bluetooth on the same stereo and it never stopped the stereo

Vibrate didn't help
I contacted Samsung Support they say there is no fix for this its a default setting that can't be changed

My Galaxy s6 plays the notification sounds over the music and from the speaker when I'm on Bluetooth. It is really annoying. My previous phone did not have this "feature."

I'm guessing this setting is so that apps like navigation can speak directions over what you have playing and actually be heard.

That's correct. Although, previous Samsungs just lowered the volume instead of mute.
