Why does my GNex keep thinking I'm in Las Vegas (GPS)?

My GNex keeps thinking I"m in Vegas. Why does this happen? A couple times when I opened Google Maps, it went to Vegas 1st, and then a second later, it went to my actual location in Chicago. But for my weather widgets, it keeps showing Vegas a lot. I have to go in and refresh a couple times to get it to show my correct location.

Does anyone know why this happens? How to fix it?

Thx

By any chance are you at home & using a cell extender? I had a VZW extender that turned out to be the source of my problem, where it sporadically put my location in a fixed spot in Wilmington, NC. After a couple of calls to support, they told me it was a design problem in the extender, and that it wouldn't be fixed. I disconnected it, and it's been in a box ever since - with no more false location reporting on my phone.

Im not sure why, but my Ipad never gets my location right either. Its always 2-3 hours away?? My GNex is actually correct though.

maybe your phone misunderstands the saying "what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas". It just wants to stay in Vegas, and is that so wrong?

Apparently this is an issue with other newer samsung devices.

Its happening with my S3. Thinks I'm in the NYNY casino in Las Vegas when I'm really in the real NYC. So weird. There is a thread in the google groups where someone from google is monitoring. So I also posted there. Google Groups

I *think* this is because of WiFi in many cases. My wife had this issue on her HTC Thunderbolt for a while. With WiFi on, indoors, it uses the WiFi SSD to determine a location. If the same SSD(s) are known to exist in Vegas, it assumes you are there. When you open maps, and activate GPS, it quickly figures out you are not there, and jumps you to the correct location.

Its def Wi-Fi related. But if you read the link I posted. Seems to be a Samsung las Vegas thing.
