Why does my phone freeze when i turn it on from sleep

My phone always freezes for a few seconds on the lockscreen when I turn it on. Restarting fixed the problem temporarily but it comes back. Any help?

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Does this also happen in Safe Mode?
