why did my phone keep dying after i updated the security policy?

I updated the security policy on my s4 and notification said it was updated. i tapped on the notification then my phone died. still had battery life then i kept trying to turn it on and it would vibrate then die. took battery and sim out then tried again and it kept doing the same thing. wouldn't even charge. its finally on now but no clue how long it will last. help i dont want it to die because of updating the security policy, has anyone else experienced this?

Are you sure it's not the battery that's causing the trouble?
