Why does my phone sometimes ring when no one is calling?

My phone sometimes rings when no one is calling

Hi! I'm new to the Samsung/Android family & have a number of questions. But what's perplexing most is when my phone rings (at least once a day) but no one is calling. The phone app doesn't come up. Nothing shows in the call log. And, I can't stop it from ringing. I just have to wait for it to stop. Please tell me this is a problem with a fix.

Change your ringtone to something else to check if it's actually related to your calls
ie when it happens again is it your new ring tone, if not it's related to some app or notification you have set
