Why does my pixel 5 screen unlock in my pocket?

Screen will unlock (i am using fingerprint and 4 digit pin to unlock) while in my pocket and open all sorts of apps, turns on airplane mode, turns on battery saver and other things. This is happening on my brothers pixel 5 as well.

What sort of pockets are these? I carry phones in sleeveless jacket pockets, and have no trouble. Sometimes in a close-fitting trouser front pocket, the camera will get activated somehow, causing warmth and battery drain. I therefore avoid that where possible.

I'm not talking about Pixels, incidentally.

Welcome to Android Central! If you have the Tap to Check Phone option turned on in the Settings>System>Gestures menu, try turning that off. Also, in Settngs>Security>Advanced>Smart Lock, make sure On-body Detection is turned off.

Also set the screen lock timer to instantly lock with power button. I'm not sure the exact path to this setting but would be in the menu where you set your type of screen lock.
