Why does my S5 keep coming up with 'unfortunately, Samsung Galaxy has stopped'?

Re: My s5 keeps comin up with 'unfortunately, samsung galaxy has stopped'

Has been happening to me for the last few days too. I can't see why a factory reset should be necessary when it seems to have happened to so many people all of a sudden. Surely Samsung should be aware of it?

It's weird how it doesn't actually cause any problems. I get the error, press OK and that's it...

First find out if a third party app is responsible. Start up the S5 on "safe mode" and see if it the conflict error still pops up. If so, then you might have to reflash the phone.

Otherwise, if the error pops up in normal mode then you can start isolating each non-native apps one by one until you find the conflict.

rachelwells3040 hi. I just, Settings-About Device-Updates. "Latest device updates has been installed" -then just restart (hold Power button, Restart.) :) worked for me.

I've been experiencing this problem for a week or so. Contacted Samsung UK support, they advised me to install the latest version of Kies (ver. 3) on my PC and use it to upgrade my S5 to Lollipop. After about 30 minutes I'm done and the problem seems to have gone. Hope this helps!

i have read that google+ is the problem. Disabling the app fixes the problem

Didn't work. It just happened again :(.

I actually had the same problem today. I read somewhere to quickly click on the phone icon. Then click on the "keypad" icon at the top. That actually worked for me.

Re: My s5 keeps comin up with 'unfortunately, samsung galaxy has stopped'

Is there any other option excluding the factory reset? This problem just occurred a day ago exactly when the remote app I have downloaded called Peel updated and did something weird. I've tried pulling the battery, restarting it, charging it, letting it die and connecting it to my laptop. Nothingggs working and I don't have it completely backed up and its such a hassel to restore everything. If theres no alternate options thanks anyways

Hello and welcome to Android Central MentalCabbage!

Have you tried wiping the cache partition as per #1.3 of S5 Lollipop Update Problems - Dummies Guide

My phone was like that but all you do is turn on you phone, find your "phone icon" click on that then click on "keypad" and that's it. It should be fixed. No need to uninstall anything or download anything.

I've tried almost everything suggested. Even did a factory reset. The error popped up before I had even reached the home screen.
