Why does my Samsung Galaxy s5 screen keep going black and not unlocking

I have had my Samsung Galaxy S5 since January and over the past week it freezes for a minute then the screen goes black and it won't unlock and the only way to get it working is to take the battery out and reboot the phone but when you let the screen lock the same thing happens, any advice?

Are you using an SD card? It may be causing trouble.

Also, consider two other useful remedies, a Cache Partition wipe, and Safe Mode.

Hi: I've been having exactly the same problem. Frozen screen for a while, now it goes totally black (sometimes for an entire day). What was teh remedy, if any?
Would you recommend taking it back to the mobile phone provider?
