Why does my screen go black when I make a call from my LG G2?

My screen goes black when I make a call from LG G2

I had to replace broken screen of my LG G2. Now as soon as I dial a number the screen goes black and does not respond to any button or touch.

The screen is supposed to go off when you hold it up to your face so you don't inadvertently press numbers with your face. Who did the screen replacement? Sounds like something may not have been done right.
