Why does my stock Messaging app keeps crashing and never sends messages, and how can I fix it.

Sometimes when i enter the messaging app i click on the person and type my text. When I click send, it says "Unfortunately, Messaging has stopped." Then sometimes I look at the text as it is sending and it always says it is sending. Then i retype the message and send it and it only sends the second one. Never the first. I tried clearing the cache and app data then restarting the phone, but it didn't stop these things from happening. My phone is the Droid Maxx.

Using app manager select your messaging app and disable then reboot your phone and enable the app. Then, go to Play store as it will need some updates
