Why does my stylus work...until it doesn't?

ZTE 4G. Use a stylus d/t tremor. Stylus works great for a week or a day or an hour but spontaneously needs extreme pressure or stops working entirely, often mid-message. Ability comes back in minutes, on reboot, or maybe not for a week or longer....Talked to US Cellular, RadioShack and OfficeMax. They always blame the stylus and now I have 7 different types from $5 to $35. Stylus doesn't matter, temperature doesn't matter. I think it's the phone but they say it can't be. Help!

Two minds, one thought. Sounds like a defective screen issue.
