Why does my Xbox one controller not turn on when connected via otg adapter?

[Android Central Question]

I have a wired Xbox One controller connected to my P20 Pro via a Samsung OTG adapter but the controller won't turn on. It charges other phones when they are plugged in but plugging the controller in and I get nothing. Are there any settings I'm missing that enables controller support etc.? Or is there simply not enough power to turn the controller on?
