Why does portrait mode give me black eyes?

Wheneve I try and use the portrait lighting on my huawei p20 pro ( the black and white stage lighting) my eyes are always just black holes in the pictures. U can't define the pupils and iris for example. Has anyone else had this? If so how do I fix it?

I just tried it on mine and I don't have that problem. Try clearing out app data and cache for the camera app.
