why does system data use up so much space?

I have an LG Vista. It's been about 2 weeks since I got it and already my 8 gb is full. And my systems data is taking up 5 of those 8. What causes that? And how can I fix it?

You can't do much to fix it. Those 5 gigs include the operating system as well as preinstalled apps that cannot be removed. Next time I would recommend going with a phone that has at least 16 gigs or an SD card slot.
