Why does the contact picture not change?

[Android Central Question]

If I call my friend her contact picture, the one I assigned to her phone number, appears during the call as expected.

If I then go on to call somebody else whilst it makes the call correctly it's still her contact picture that appears assigned to the second person's number.

It's only just started doing this and I'm baffled.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Try clearing the app cache/data from the Phone app in Settings>Apps, force stop it, then open it again.
