Why does the screen go black on my Droid Maxx?

Screen goes black on droid maxx

I have my phone for about a month now and this has happened twice. I start a call, and after not so long they pick it up. Now the screen turns of when placed at the ear due to the proximity sensor, but sometimes the screen doesn't light until the other end hangs up. Plz halp.
