Why doesn't my Galaxy S6 email app refresh?

Galaxy S6 email app doesn't refresh

I just got the S6 a few days ago. I set up my Outlook email accounts (former Hotmail) in the email app that came with the phone. The sync schedule is set to Auto (as received) but the email only refreshes only when I do it manually. Any ideas why it's not happening automatically?

Not sure what this problem is. The same thing happens with regular IMAP accounts on mine. It works for a short time after adding the account, then no updates after that, not even manual despite it notifying as synced today. I go to my PC and over 2I messages are waiting. No updates for 3 days being pushed.
