Why doesn't the battery status indicator change in the Samsung Tab 3?

why is the battery status indicator does not change in samsung tab 3

I m using samsung tablet 3 8.0 , i did factory restart. after that the battery status is 100% always does not decreasing and after some time of usage get switched off. once i connect to charging it get switch on. what is the reason for this
