Why doesn't the Nexus 7 support landscape mode in a web browser?

I want to view many apps in landscape mode. Every Droid phone I've ever had (I'm on my fifth, a Razr Maxx) has done this automatically when I turned the device sideways, as does my old (cracked screen and replaced by the Nexus but still working) Sony tablet. I want to view iMap Weather in landscape mode! I want to view web pages and emails in landscape mode! What's wrong with Google in not realizing this?

Most apps and internet browsers can be viewed landscape. Do you have the orientation locked?

It does, you just have to enable it.

Settings -> Accessibility -> Auto-rotate screen

It does not, however, rotate the home screens. For that you need an app or custom launcher. I use Ultimate Rotation Control, but I think there are some free options out there.

Ultimate rotation Control is a great app, I installed the free trial and paid for the full version after a couple of days, well worth the money.
