Why doesn't the send button work on a text or on FB messenger?

My daughter and I are both having this issue. We both have Galaxy S7's. The issue just started this week. When I re-start then it fixes it but within a day or two the problem starts again. If I close my keyboard the SEND does work, but it is a pain. I am hoping someone has an answer for this.

Having the same issue, cannot send the text or message on FB with send arrow, I have to hide keyboard to send. Samsung Galaxy 7

For everyone having this problem, here's the update. There is an app which is malfunctioning and it creates a screen overlay barring other apps to use the send area of screen. It not only disables the send buttons but also disables the touch screen response from that area. The only way to make it work again is by restating the phone. But that works only for a few hours and the issue reappears. During the time you face the issue, notice that you cannot set permissions for any app and you get the screen overlay error which lead me to believe this.

I'mfurther investigating it and will update as and when I resolve this. This is an issue caused by a rogue app and there is nothing wrong with hardware.

I had same problem and fixed it by going into setting and turning off permissions for the individual apps that do overlays and mine has been working fine since. I have a gs7 edge. FYI I only turned off the less popular app's overlays but left things like Facebook on. Thx

I am having the same issue and I have a s7 edge. At first I thought it was my screen protector. I took it off and yet it was still not working. Then I uninstalled the keyboard app I had downloaded and still nothing. Then I cleared catche and still had the same problem. The only thing that fixes it is turning off phone but then a couple hours later the problem persists. I did a hard factory reset of my phone and it worked fine for 3 days and here I am again with the same issue.

Re: the send button doesnt work on a text or on fb messenger?

The keyboard is acting strange but everything else is fine. The send button wont work, which means the log in button and also cant search the internet.

Same issue here on LG G4 running SwiftKey. I've gotten a ton of "screen overlay detected" errors and I suspect it is something to do with that. When I try to enable overlay for SwiftKey, the option is grayed out. Same for Google Messenger.

What is the name of the rogue app?

S7. I went and turned off overlay for the moments app and it fixed this problem. Settings>applications>application manager>more (in top right corner)>draw over other apps and switched Moments off.

Hi Nackles, Will this fix work on the LG G5? I am having the same issue....
I really don't know. The best thing to do is try it out and see what happens. If it doesn't work you can turn moments overlay back on with no harm done. Sorry I can't help you more.

Nackles: Thank you very much. Turning off the overlay on Moments fixed my issue on S7 Edge.

Literally just made an account with android central just to say THANK YOU for solving this problem. I had such a hard time googling this issue, this is the only thread that came up with other people having the same problem.

I hardly use "moments" anyway - so frustrating for a pointless app to be causing such an annoying problem!

My S5 started doing this the other day as well. It seems to be a keyboard issue. If I am texting and hit the send button, it simply won't send. I have to write the text and then back out so that the keyboard disappears. Only then can I send my text. Same for Facebook.

Yep.. Had same issue.. Fixed it by going into apps - - then to "configure apps".. And I just turned off "overlay" for alot of them... It worked!. But not sure which one was the exact problem

Brilliant....your suggestions are the only answer to the problem, it seems. There is definitely a 'dead spot' right where the send button normally appears, but moving the keyboard down slightly or changing the orientation moves the send button to areas that are not 'dead'. Thanks for the help!!!
