Why doesn't the software update finish?

I have a Samsung s8+, and updated my phone yesterday. However, after completing the update it simply told me I needed to update the software again. I tried clearning/resetting the cache in recovery mode several times, tried turning on auto update for night, and tried updating several times, but to no avail. When I start the phone in recovery mode, it begins to update, but then produces the no command screen, followed by the options for which to reboot, reset, etc. What do I do?

Welcome to Android Central! When is it telling you to update again? Do you see it as a system update notification in the status bar when you're on the homescreen?

Has this phone ever been rooted, or had a firmware manually installed using Odin or some other means?

Yes it does show up as a notification, but this phone has never been rooted or anything of the sort. The most I've done to change it is download themes

Does the Build Number change at all after it updates? You can look for it in ​Settings>About Phone.

Yup, it did so I kept going a bit longer and after around 5 more updates it stopped! Thank youuuu
