Why doesn't Ultra power saver mode actually save any battery?

I find that my P20 Pro uses the same amount of battery overnight whether it is in Ultra power saver mode or normal. The phone predicts that with ultra power saver on the battery should last at least 12 hours longer than without, but in the morning the same percentage has dropped.

Is this a common issue with the P20 pro or is it mine specifically?

Nope, it's the Huawei "magical software". It's just crap.
