I think most of us are thinking the same thing. I've been waiting on the Bionic, but then I started hearing about the GSII, if it's anything like the one in the UK, it probably will be better.

Bionic lost whatever chance it had to take some of the iPhone sales...
Now its going to get crushed by the iPhone and GS2 and the new Nexus phone...
Poor Moto... You might have made a very good phone but timing was really bad to release with so many phones that will be out in the market at the exact same time.

Yeah, really bad timing but they might have been left with no other choice. I'm sure they wanted to get out to market sooner rather than later but something must've held them back in the process.

I gave up on it after carrying around an X2 for a week and a half earlier this month. If the X2 is any indication, the Bionic's going to have a bad screen (PenTile) and even worse battery life with 4G. I also have my doubts about the software after experiencing the disasterous Motoblur that was on the X2. Sure, its going to take benchmark scores to new heights, but what else?? Say what you will about Apple, but there's a reason why they're passing on 4G this time around....the radios just aren't where they need from an efficiency standpoint to be for practical real world use yet. I'll be sticking with solid 3G phones until this time next year.
I can understand waiting for GSII or something better, but all this Nexus Prime chatter is rather funny, since Verizon has yet to have one and Sprint (CDMA) got theirs way later. If Moto can't get the LTE Bionic out the door even close to plan, you really think you're going to get a Verizon LTE Nexus right away in October? Good luck.
By the time it releases sometime in September, it will have been almost nine months since it was announced. It's a phone, for chrissakes, not a baby!
As for the "enhancements", how long does it take to strip out Blur?
This would have been a great phone six months ago, even handicapped with Blur. Now, with even a hint of a Nexus on the horizon, it's in NFW territory AFAIC, without unexpected radical improvements.
I hope with all these delays they made more changes than what were noted otherwise it would really be a disappointment, I mean yes it will still be a good phone but how about you give us stock since you made everyone wait so long. You can dream anyway lol.
for me, its not exactly a "delay" that turned me off, its the fact that this phone is releasing so close to the first "ics" nexus phone. if moto or verizon would of said months ago that the release date was september 1st, i still would of passed. had they said august 4th, maybe i pull the trigger. granted there is no release date for the next nexus but if im willing to wait till sep for bionic, i might as well wait 1-2 more months and get a nexus phone to hold me over for 2 years
I just wished it was released earlier than projected, im pretty sure we all are all curious to see how the dual core will perform under the LTE network. Because we all know LTE murders battery life within 4-5 hours. Still, I will take a look at it when it pops up and then ill make a decision, thats if the Samsung Galaxy S2 hits also
with all the new phones coming out before the BIonic did, I'm sure they made a few new changes I would hope
The only problem with that thought is that the hardware for this phone was locked in months ago.
Since it came through the fcc already if they added changes they would have to send it through again so that is why I feel moto is just sitting on what they had months ago so it wont be anything special other than dual core lte.
I personally am not giving up, just broadening my options. If the Bionic cam out in May or June then I would have had it by now. But now their are more options out there so I am not just focusing on one device when I may prefer a different available device. The three good Verizon options are the Motorola Droid Bionic, Samsung Galaxy S 2, and the Nexus Prime. We know the Bionic will be coming out soon, and need more information on the other two. If I find out enough information on one of the other two before I buy the Bionic, then I may decide to wait it out for one of them.
Personally I want a big good screen, LTE and Dual Core with a good amount of RAM. everything else is negotiable, though I am starting to want a keyboard.

That is exactly where I am right now with the whole thing. I had my sights set on the Bionic but it may be time to broaden my horizons and take a look at what other options are coming our way. I will admit, to have a Nexus device on Verizon is very tempting.
Actually, Moto CEO said they were ready and the phones are built; it was VERIZON's decision to release it in September...makes no sense to me, but let's not Moto's fault this time around.
Moto built an entire LTE chip of their own from scratch...that's quite a project; they wanted it for patent purposes and, hopefully, it will help make the phone better in the long run. The phones are built, according to the CEO, it was Verizon's decision to hold it until September; why, I have no idea.
