Why give up on the Bionic?

I gave up because I found out that it's nothing more than a Photon with an OMAP4. Not that that's bad or anything but I'd have to be swept off my feet by a device with no physical QWERTY to buy it, so I sold out on the Droid 3.

Droid 3 is awesome dude. I'd buy one if I didn't feel like I'd get ripped off for not having an LTE radio. That's my personal opinion. Plus we'll see a Droid 4 here pretty soon, hopefully with another great host of new updates and a 2nd gen LTE radio. By the time I'd be able to upgrade again though, we'll have like Droid 16 or something lol. I expect the line to last quite a while, and hopefully get better each time. Since I've never had a physical QWERTY keyboard, I don't know what it's like to not have one

I'm not completely giving up on the Bionic, but my OG Droid was/is giving me enough grief (general wear and tear, failing battery, and busted headphone Jack) that I was ready to dump it for a Bionic ASAP with a 2yr contract discount, but foregoing my NE2 discount.

With a Sept release, a $300 price tag, plus other phones targeted for similar timeframe (I.e. NPrime), I'm more inclined to wait for Nov when the NE2 discount is available and see what the best deal is then.

Also, since consumer frenzy struck, I've started using more apps regularly that really become cumbersome w/o a physical keyboard (DocsToGo spreadsheet). So, I'm keeping my eye out for dual-core, 4G sliders..

There is no way that you should consider getting a Droid3 "selling out." It is a great phone and, if you don't mind not having LTE, will serve you well for quite a while I'm sure.

Oh I got it and I don't regret getting it one bit. LTE wasn't really a factor for me because I have an LTE mobile hotspot. More on the topic, I can be pleased with my purchase because I know that the Bionic will have the same chipset as the D3.
