Auto-Rotate Stopped Working On Phone

I have an LG Optimus Showtime running Android versio 4.0.4 and my auto-rotate suddenly stopped working. I have made sure that it is set under the display tab in the settings, I've tried taking my battery out for 30 seconds (and more) & then restarting the phone, but that hasn't helped. Is there a way to fix this?

Welcome to Android Central! Try installing Sensor Box to see if the orientation sensors are still functioning correctly.

Re: Auto-Rotate Stopped Working On Phone

My Android phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 4) screen stopped rotating after dropping about 15 inches onto a hardwood floor. I opted to call the IMBECILES at Verizon and was taken through a few software procedures which did not work. It was suggested that I do a full backup and then a factory reset that would require reinstallation of all added apps. That would have taken hours perhaps. This morning I found a solution which is to re-drop the phone flat, starting from 2" from the surface and gradually increasing the drop distance. The fix worked from about 3". Apparently, there is ball or something that physically moves inside the device that is part of the sensor and it sometimes gets stuck. Verizon? Thanks for wasting 30 minutes of my time.
