Gmail data usage increased since Lollipop update on Nexus 4
Hello, I hope someone can help me.
My wife's Nexus 4 is using a great deal more data since the Lollipop update. before Lollipop, she was using the stock android email app which was using approx. 100mb of data per month. Since lollipop, her stock android email app has disappeared & it now defaults to Gmail. without changing any of the settings or changing her usage pattern she is now using 700 to 800mb per month!
I'm guessing/hoping there's something going on in the background (syncing etc) which wasn't happening before but I've not been able to work it out or how to turn it off etc. What I'd like to do is set the app so it only updated manually on request &/or only by wifi - Any advise greatly appreciated!
Also, can we just turn off Gmail & use another email app? I seem to remember you need gmail activated to allow app updates from the play store but I'm not 100% sure about that...
